Resawn Shakes have a hand-split appearance on the exposed front side, and a flat resawn back side. Available in #1 premium grade which must be 100% edge-grain. Waldun Group shakes are graded in compliance to UBC 15-3 and CSA 97 standards.

Tapersawn shakes are sawn on both sides, like cedar shingles but with a thicker shadow line, while still enhancing a tailored, smooth style. Available in #1 premium grade which must be 100% edge-grain, and a variety of thicknesses from 5/8 inch to 1 1/8 inch.

CEDAR SHINGLES
Cedar shingles have a reduced exposure to obtain a 3-ply roof system and offer a smooth, tailored look. These top-grade shingles are 100% heartwood, 100% clear and 100% edge grain. All shingles produced by Waldun Group have an even thickness and we pride ourselves on our clean sawn faces.

FEATURED CEDAR ROOF
This client's Vancouver home was roofed with Tapersawn Cedar Shakes. It suits the home's exterior perfectly! In addition to the roof, we replaced all of the fascia boards, also with cedar, painted in the Aura Exterior Paint, Black Beauty color from Benjamin Moore. The roof system incorporates large built-in rain troughs which function as gutters. For these sections, a two-ply SBS torch-on membrane was installed. The perimeter was finished with custom cap-metal flashing with standing seams. New custom chimney caps were also installed.
