Job Title: Sheet Metal Roofer

Reports to: Team Leader

Department: Production

Job Summary:

Sheet Metal Roofer Work is performed on various slopes and elevations, and fall protection systems are installed prior to work beginning and utilized constantly throughout the day. Scope of work includes installation of sheet metal products for roofing and siding, the design and fabrication of custom cap flashing, window trims, and other building envelope details.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Review and comply with job site safety rules and project safety plans
• Study installation instructions from various product manufacturers
• Install property protection below roof lines to deflect and catch falling debris
• Set up fall protection systems and scaffolding to provide safe access to roofs
• Remove and dispose of old roofing systems
• Complete roof decking/minor structural repairs, and install plywood sheathing
• Install hot/cold temp peel and stick, felt paper, and synthetic membranes
• Install a variety of metal roofing and siding systems including snap-lock and standing seam products as per manufacturer specifications
• Install attic ventilation systems, such as turbine vents, gable or ridge vents, or conventional or solar-powered exhaust fans
• Design and fabricate custom cap flashing, window trims, and other building envelope details

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of roofing construction and various metal roofing and siding system
• Extensive knowledge in sheet metal fabrication
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Fluent in the English language
• Excellent problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
• Considerable knowledge of fall protection systems, and WorksafeBC regulations
• Proficient in the use of company intranet and project management tools including Buildertrend
• Good mathematical, reading, and time management skills
• Ability to work at heights on a flat or sloped roof

Qualifications:

The following are great to have, but not all are required at the time of employment. Further training and certification can be achieved while employed.

• 2+ years of roofing experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Sheet metal roofing tools
• Fall protection kit
• Can lift >22kg (>50 lbs)

Certifications:

• Fall Protection
• (Optional) RCABC/Red Seal Architectural Sheet Metal Worker

Work Environment:

Working from heights in inclement weather conditions. Although sites are kept safe, you must be diligent and keep a strong focus on your surroundings at all times. Typical weather conditions may be extremely hot or extremely cold and you must wear proper safety gear at all times regardless.
